Of my travel all over the world, Paris still ranks as my favorite city. The beauty of Paris is totally enchanting, and is divided into different neighborhoods known as arrondissements. It’s hard to go wrong in picking a hotel in any arrondissement, as they are all unique and worth exploring. Public transportation makes it easy to get around.

There are hotels to suit everyone’s budget from pensiones to small hotels, right up to the super deluxe costing up to $1,000 per night. People who choose to spend only a few days of their vacation in Paris are robbing themselves of time to really see and get to know the city. The famous museums such as the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay among many others can take hours upon hours to see and appreciate.
If strolling the neighborhoods is not your cup of tea, then there are many sights and tours in Paris to take including:
-
- The Tuileries Gardens and Palace Vendome
- Notre Dame Cathedral
- the Catacombs
- Eiffel Tower
- Les Invalides (Napoleans tomb)
- Opera House
- Montmarte
- Seine river cruise

Full and half-day tours include:
- Versailles
- Mont Saint-Michel
- Champagne region
- Normandy
- Lyon
Walking and sightseeing can work up quite an appetite, and nowhere else in the world will you find better places to eat. Whether it’s a small neighborhood bistro or an ornate brasserie, up to Michelin star restaurants, you will get a great meal in any price range. The patisseries offer absolutely the best pastries in the world, from buttery croissants to éclairs to any type of pastry.
I can go on and on, but what you have to do is experience it yourself. For the first time visitor I would suggest five to seven days. The best time to go is spring, summer (not August as many places are closed), and fall. Christmas time is chilly, but the whole city is lit up and is quite beautiful, especially the Champs Elysees.
